Many young people starting their first jobs lack proper footwear. Not only is this a problem for their safety and well being, it is an unnecessary obstacle to maintaining stable employment, an essential building block for self-esteem and future prosperity.

The Solution:

The Houses of Refuge Project, through Project Shoeleather, is partnering with San Antonio businesses to provide a helping hand.

Here's how it works:

  • You make a generous donation to Project Shoeleather.
  • We use those funds to provide businesses with $50 gift cards to distribute to new employees in need of shoes and other essential clothing.
  • New hires use the gift card to purchase suitable shoes or other essentials for the job.

Why it matters:

Starting a new job is exciting, but having the right tools is essential. Project Shoeleather removes a barrier and allows young workers to focus on what matters – learning, growing, and building a successful career.
